Ingredients

    • 16 Boston Bibb or butter lettuce leaves

    • 1 pound lean ground beef

    • 1 tablespoon cooking oil

    • 1 large onion, chopped

    • ¼ cup hoisin sauce

    • 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced

    • 1 tablespoon soy sauce

    • 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar

    • 2 teaspoons minced pickled ginger

    • 1 dash Asian chile pepper sauce, or to taste (Optional)

    • 1 (8 ounce) can water chestnuts, drained and finely chopped

    • 1 bunch green onions, chopped

    • 2 teaspoons Asian (dark) sesame oil

Directions:

Step 1
Wash entire lettuce leaves and wipe off, being mindful so as not to tear them; put away.

Step 2
Heat oil in a huge skillet over medium-high intensity. Add meat; cook and mix until sautƩed and brittle, 5 to 7 minutes. Channel and dispose of oil; move meat to a bowl. Add onion to a similar skillet; cook and mix until simply delicate, 5 to 7 minutes.

Step 3
Mix in hoisin sauce, garlic, soy sauce, vinegar, ginger, and chile pepper sauce until all around joined. Add water chestnuts, green onions, sesame oil, and cooked meat; cook and mix until the onions simply start to shrivel, around 2 minutes.

Step 4
Orchestrate lettuce leaves around the external edge of a huge serving platter; spoon hamburger blend in the middle.

Tips
Serve on little plates or have napkins accessible since the blend can at times trickle a bit.
