Ingredients
16 Boston Bibb or butter lettuce leaves
1 pound lean ground beef
1 tablespoon cooking oil
1 large onion, chopped
¼ cup hoisin sauce
2 cloves fresh garlic, minced
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
2 teaspoons minced pickled ginger
1 dash Asian chile pepper sauce, or to taste (Optional)
1 (8 ounce) can water chestnuts, drained and finely chopped
1 bunch green onions, chopped
2 teaspoons Asian (dark) sesame oil
Directions:
Step 1Wash entire lettuce leaves and wipe off, being mindful so as not to tear them; put away.
Step 2Heat oil in a huge skillet over medium-high intensity. Add meat; cook and mix until sautƩed and brittle, 5 to 7 minutes. Channel and dispose of oil; move meat to a bowl. Add onion to a similar skillet; cook and mix until simply delicate, 5 to 7 minutes.
Step 3Mix in hoisin sauce, garlic, soy sauce, vinegar, ginger, and chile pepper sauce until all around joined. Add water chestnuts, green onions, sesame oil, and cooked meat; cook and mix until the onions simply start to shrivel, around 2 minutes.
Step 4Orchestrate lettuce leaves around the external edge of a huge serving platter; spoon hamburger blend in the middle.
