Chinese Scallion Omelette Complete Recipe

Chinese Scallion Omelette, also known as "Jianbing" or "Chinese Spring Onion Omelette," is a simple yet flavorful dish often enjoyed as a breakfast or light meal in China. Here's a complete recipe for making a delicious Chinese Scallion Omelette:

Ingredients:

4 large eggs

2-3 stalks of scallions (spring onions/green onions), finely chopped

1 tablespoon light soy sauce

1/2 teaspoon sesame oil

1/4 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)

1/4 teaspoon ground white pepper (optional)

1 tablespoon vegetable oil (or any cooking oil of your choice)

Instructions:

In a mixing bowl, crack the eggs and beat them lightly with a fork or whisk.

Add the finely chopped scallions, light soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and ground white pepper (if using) to the beaten eggs. Mix everything together until well combined. The scallions will give the omelet a delicious savory flavor.

Place a non-stick pan or skillet over medium heat and add the vegetable oil. Allow the oil to heat up.

Once the oil is hot, pour the egg mixture into the pan. Use a spatula to spread the mixture evenly, creating a thin layer.

Cook the omelet on medium heat until the edges lift and the bottom turns golden brown. This should take about 2-3 minutes.

Carefully flip the omelet to cook the other side. You can use a large plate or another flat pan to help flip.

Cook the second side for another 1-2 minutes until it's also golden brown and fully cooked.

Once the Chinese Scallion Omelette is cooked to your liking, transfer it to a serving plate.

Optionally, you can garnish the omelet with extra chopped scallions and a drizzle of soy sauce for added flavor.

Serve the Chinese Scallion Omelette hot as it is, or pair it with steamed rice and a side of vegetables for a more substantial meal.

Enjoy your tasty and nutritious Chinese Scallion Omelette!

Note: This recipe is for a basic Chinese Scallion Omelette, but you can customize it by adding other ingredients like shredded carrots, cooked shrimp, or diced vegetables to enhance the taste and texture.
