Italian Meat Stromboli Recipe

Ingredients:

For the dough:

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon salt

2 teaspoons instant yeast

1 cup warm water

1 tablespoon olive oil

For the filling:

8 ounces Italian deli meats (such as salami, pepperoni, and ham), thinly sliced

8 ounces provolone cheese, thinly sliced

1/2 cup roasted red peppers, thinly sliced

1/4 cup sliced black olives (optional)

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Salt and pepper, to taste

For the topping:

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese

1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

Marinara sauce, for serving

Instructions:

·         In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt. In a separate small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.

·         Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until a dough forms.

·         Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

·         Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

·         Punch down the dough and transfer it onto a floured surface. Roll out the dough into a rectangular shape, about 1/4 inch thick.

·         Layer the sliced Italian deli meats evenly over the dough, leaving a border around the edges. Top with provolone cheese, roasted red peppers, black olives (if using), grated Parmesan cheese, dried oregano, garlic powder, crushed red pepper flakes (if desired), salt, and pepper.

·         Starting from one of the long sides, tightly roll up the dough, enclosing the filling. Pinch the edges to seal.

·         Place the stromboli onto the prepared baking sheet, seam side down. Using a sharp knife, make a few slits on the top to allow steam to escape.

·         In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, grated Parmesan cheese, and dried oregano. Brush this mixture over the top of the stromboli.

·         Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the stromboli is golden brown and crispy.

·         Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Slice the stromboli into individual portions and serve with marinara sauce for dipping.

Enjoy your delicious Italian Meat Stromboli! It's great for sharing as an appetizer or as a main course.
